Did you need to buy make-up today?! January 4, 2008

I went to the mall today to buy some make-up, ’cause heaven help everyone around me if I don’t apply the stuff daily.  I have this fabulous lady who always waits on me at the Clinique counter and she always “hooks me up” with all the goodies I need plus a few new samples to try.  Today she gave me samples in sizes that would allow me to fly with my make-up in a carry on bag for the trip I will be taking soon.  Anyway, I didn’t go looking for anything more then my foundation when the Holy Spirit led me down a different road.

She has been considering leaving the great city of Wilmington to take a promotion to management at another Clinique counter, so I asked her if and when she was leaving.  She proceeded to lower her voice and tell me everything that had happened and how she had been offered an even greater promotion but it meant moving to SC.  (Now let me tell you that this girl loves Jesus and is filled with the Holy Ghost and I believe that He sent me to buy make-up today instead of yesterday or even tomorrow.  He knows when we need a bit of intervention.)  Anyway, she told me of how the counter that she was working for here in town, offered her a job to stay, for the same amount of money, just no promotion and she was second guessing herself.  Now I know that all of us have had that kind of experience when we think we know what we are doing, only to have something present itself and then aren’t sure, all over again.  We second guess.

As I talked to her she told me that she had already accepted the job in SC but now wasn’t sure.  I had, up to that point, just been encouraging her about how she could make a choice based on what her goals were.  The minute she told me she had accepted already I looked at her and stated the obvious, “Did you pray about your decision?”  “Yes.”  “Were you certain yesterday, when you accepted the job that this is what the Lord wants you to do?”  “Yes.”  “Well then what are you stressing over?  The answer you needed was already given, don’t allow the enemy to confuse and cause you to question what you know that the Lord has said to you.”  It was a God moment that I didn’t go looking for but that just presented itself.

I walked out of the mall today thanking the Lord for sending me to buy make-up today and for using me to just speak the obvious truth.  What she does with the truth is up to her, I could only remind her that she already knew what to do.

Are you ready to follow the Lord’s leading when He has a different path for you to walk?  I can honestly say that I don’t always get it right.  Sometimes I don’t catch the opportunity until later.  When that happens I have to trust that someone else did my job for me.  Thank you Jesus for your grace and mercy!
